Basic guide of use and access

Access to flexiLabs applications and desktops can be done through any compatible browser such as Edge, Firefox, Safari or Google Chrome.

FlexiLabs can be used without installing any client software using the HTML5 option, which is the default behavior. This standard mode allows access to all applications through the browser, although it has some limitations in functionality (it does not allow multimedia redirection or access to local drives).

To access those applications that require an advanced mode (high graphic capacity or redirection of devices connected to the client computer) it is necessary to install the client software . The use of the advanced mode requires its activation in the portal, marking the option "Use Client" in the side menu.

The flexiLabs client software can be downloaded through the Downloads option in the portal's side menu. The versions for Windows, Linux, Mac, etc. are available on this page.

By using a compatible browser and entering the indicated URL, you access the main portal.

To access you must enter the username and password. Depending on the user's profile, different desktops and applications will be seen.

In HTML5 mode, when clicking on an application icon, it will be opened in a new browser tab.

In Client mode, the application will be opened outside the browser in its own window. The first client access may require some user action depending on the type of browser used, as indicated in the corresponding sections of this guide.

image17

To close a desktop, click on the start icon (bottom left corner) and click on the "Log off" option

From an application, you can simply close the application in the usual way by choosing the option to Exit in the menu or clicking on the close button.

The first time a file .flexilabs appears at the lower left part of the browser window in Chrome. You have to go to the drop-down menu to the right of the downloaded file and choose the option "Always open files of this type". Then click twice on the .flexilabs file to open the application. Next time an application is opened, the .flexilabs file will no longer request approval and will open directly.

image19

When clicking on an icon to open an application, a file with the extension ".flexilabs" is downloaded and Firefox asks what program to open it with.

image51

You have to select "MSTSC_Launcher.exe", although in general it will appear as the default program.

"Others ..." and then "Browse ..." to locate the MSTSC_Launcher.exe file that by default It is located in the folder “C:\Program Files\Flexilabs\FlexilabsRDPLauncher” .

image52

Finally, click on Open in this window and OK in the initial window.

From that moment on, just click once on the icon in the applications window to run them.

In Edge the first time a “.flexilabs” file appears in the upper right of the browser window, with an "Open file" link.

You have to click on this link to open the application with the client. In subsequent accesses it will open automatically.

1. Go to Settings from the Start menu. Then click on "Applications" and select "Default Applications".

2. Scroll down until you find the link "Choose default applications by file type".

3. Select the “.flexilabs” extension and check that it is associated with "MSTSC_Launcher" .

4. If not, press the "+" button to associate the application. Enter the path "C:\Program Files\Flexilabs\FlexilabsRDPLauncher" and select MSTSC_Launcher.exe .

5. In this way, the extension “.flexilabs” is associated to open it automatically with the client.

How to save and access my files

It is not recommended to save the information in the C: drive of the remote machine since this data will probably be deleted when the session is closed.

In standard access (HTML5) the correct thing is to temporarily store the files within the user's personal folders ("My Documents", etc) on the remote computer, and then download them to any of the local drives of the computer from which it is accessed using the web tool "My Cloud Files" of the portal. See the section below dedicated to accessing documents from the portal.

In case of using the Client, it will be possible from remote applications and desktops to directly save the files to any of the drives on the local computer, including USB memory sticks.

image43

The local units of the computer from where it is accessed, usually have the nomenclature: "Letter of the drive in and team name". In the example below, the device is called 819HW6M12.

image44

To speed up the use of remote applications, you can use the "My Documents" or "My Cloud Documents" folder in the remote environment. The content of this user's personal folder is accessible from all remote desktops and programs.

This folder has limited space and is not recommended for storing documents for long periods.

Important: This is a space that is not backed up. Documents are regularly deleted after a few days. You should always make a copy of the documents to the local drives of the computer from where you access or to a USB memory.

It is possible to upload and download files to / from the remote personal folder using the web tool "My Cloud Files" , accessible from the portal's side menu.

image31

To upload files from the local computer, drag the file over the destination folder .

image32

To download files from the remote folder to the local computer, use the option "Download" in the web tool itself.

Please be aware that documents deleted from the "My Cloud Documents" folder cannot be recovered. This folder is provided to expedite the use of remote applications. Permanently saving documents is not recommended.

Common Errors

It may happen that an application or desktop does not respond properly. If this happens, the session can be forced to close to execute it again.

In HTML5 mode , to force close the session, press the CTRL + ALT + INSERT key combination, and "Close session" will be selected.

In client mode , to force close the CTRL + ALT + END key combination, and "Close session" will be selected.

If no application or desktop is opened with the client, standard access can be used via HTML5 .

In the side menu of the portal deactivate the option "Use Client".

HTML5 access does not have all the functionality of regular access but it can work in case of problems. This access has the following restrictions:

- It is not possible to access the USB drives and devices of the computer from where it is accessed

- To save a document on the local computer it will be necessary to use the "My Cloud Files" web tool.

If the session is not responding even in the case of exiting and reconnecting back, use the "_Kill all sessions_" program from the main portal and close all sessions.

If after connecting a USB pendrive to your personal computer is not showing up on the remote Desktop or Application, press F5 to force a screen refresh.
